LeRoy Andrew LaVigne, Sr
LeRoy worked in sales and was part-owner of Klooster Equipment. He also owned LaVigne Trucking of Cheboygan. In 1988, LeRoy moved to Lakeland, Florida where he owned and operated two bicycle shops. He eventually retired and moved back to Cheboygan in 2006.
LeRoy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakeland, Florida and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan. He enjoyed horses and farming. He was an avid reader with a large collection of books and was a former hunter.
Surviving are his sons, Douglas of Jasper, Florida, LeRoy A., Jr. and Darin LaVigne, both of Cheboygan; daughters, Tammy (Milton) Patrick of Lake Wales, Florida, Peggy LaVigne of Cheboygan, and LeAnn Hauch of Lakeland, Florida; step-daughters, Patti Sydow of Jenison and Penny Martin of Cheboygan; step-son, Randy (Veronica) Merchant of Cheboygan; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; and special friend Mary Hollopeter of Cheboygan.
He also leaves behind three sisters, JoAnn (Jim) Luttrell, Barbara Schneider, and Judy (Jim) Maybank, all of Cheboygan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding LeRoy in death are his wife, Patricia; daughter, Sheila LaVigne; and his parents, Andrew and Isabelle LaVigne.
Cremation has taken place and LeRoy’s final resting place will be with his family at Maple Grove Cemetery in Inverness Township. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cheboygan on Saturday December 10, 2011. LeRoy's family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. Father Paul Megge will officiate. His family has suggested that donations in memory of LeRoy be given to the family to help with expenses.
