Thelma Hope Brewbaker
Thelma worked at Proctor and Gamble in Cheboygan for several years, as a cook at Russell Memorial Hospital and then at the UAW Education Center at Black Lake, from where she retired. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She cherished spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren. Thelma enjoyed her horses and passed her love of horses onto her family. She was a skilled quilter, enjoyed knitting, and always grew a bountiful garden.
Surviving are her sons, Jim (Cindy), Larry (Sheila), Art, and Jerry (Alisha), all of Onaway; daughters, Sherri (Randy) Kramer and Shirley Rhein, both of Onaway; 24 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and her brother, Arden Porter of Onaway.
Preceding Thelma in death were her husband, Lionel Arthur Brewbaker in 1964; daughter, Jeanie Brewbaker; sons, Tom and Michael Brewbaker; and sisters, Hattie, Norma, and Evelyn.
Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 30, 2011 at the Onaway Community of Christ Church. Elder Paul Kramer will officiate. Thelma’s final resting place will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Her family has suggested that donations to honor her memory be given to All About You Adult Foster Care Home in Onaway.
