Fred W. Fisher

Fred William Fisher, age 81, of Waterford, formerly of Tower, died on Monday February 20, 2012 at McLaren Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac.  Fred, the son of Robert and Annie Fisher, was born on June 2, 1930 in Riverview, Michigan.  On March 9, 1953 Fred marred Mary Jean “Janie” McClain in Angola, Indiana.  They lived in Union Lake until 1971 when they moved to Tower. 

Fred retired from the Fisher Body Division of General Motors and was a member of the UAW.  He loved the outdoors and Northern Michigan.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to Canada with the guys.  Fred went for coffee every morning at the B & C or at Kammie’s kitchen and he always enjoyed the round table discussions that occurred each morning.         

Surviving are his daughter, JoAnn Evans of White Lake; son, Kenneth Fisher of Waterford; granddaughter, Tammy (Jesse) Covill of White Lake; grandsons, Jeffrey Evans of Detroit, Shane (Angie) Evans of Sterling Heights, and Joey Evans of Pontiac; great grandchildren, Jesse, Calan, Nicole, Sheyla, Shane Jr., Natalie, Halie, Ashlie, Hunter, Dominick, Whitney, and Chloe.  Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Janie on June 5, 2004.

A memorial service will be held at the Chagnon Funeral Home in Onaway at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 9, 2012, the 59th wedding anniversary of Fred and Janie.  Fred’s final resting place will be in Tower at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  His family has suggested that donations to honor his memory be made to Forest Waverly Fire Department.
