James Duane Church, age 65 of Tower, died May 4, 2006 at St. John's Hospital in Detroit. Jim was born in Tower on February 10, 1941 to Simon and Sadie (Hart) Church. On January 25, 1963 he was married to Judith Doolittle at the Onaway United Methodist Church. Jim was a life long resident of the Onaway area. He lived in Warren for about 20 years, but returned to Tower in 2003. Over the years Jim worked several different jobs, but retired in 1995 from his job as a delivery truck driver. Jim was a member of the Onaway United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and always liked to go for rides in the woods. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Judy of Tower; son, Brian (Barbara) Thayer of Tower; daughters, Ruth (Thomas) Stitt of Marine City; Lisa (Michael) Crawford of Warren; Jennifer Jo (Patrick) Yacheson of Warren, and Amy (Daniel) Penny of Tower; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. He will also be missed by his brothers, Albert (Louise) Church of Saugatuck and Frank (Lou) Church of Grant; sisters, Marjorie (Elbert) Hinson of Onaway; Madeline Morgan of Onaway, and Jennie McGregor of Onaway; and many, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Orvel, and George Church; and sister, Margaret McGregor. |
