William A. "Bill" Comfort, age 87 of Onaway, died July 7, 2006 at the Cheboygan Memorial Hospital, ICU. Bill was born in Onaway on October 5, 1918 to William and Lillian (Lynn) Comfort. On January 2, 1946 he was married to Dorothy Barager at the Onaway Baptist Church. Bill lived in the Onaway area most of his life. He retired in 1974 from Gennessee Wholesale Lumber where he worked as a salesman. He also worked for Ellenberger Lumber in Onaway. For a retirement job, Bill worked as a carpenter with his son-in-law, Dean Freel and also with Gary Badgero. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Sallie (Ron) Beatty of Onaway; Sandra Freel of Millersburg and Rebecca (Alger) Arkwood of Onaway; sons, Ronald (Theresa) Comfort of Atlanta; Donald (Janice) Comfort of Onaway and Everett Comfort of Warren; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sisters, Vivian Monte of Onaway; Maryann Stockwell of Onaway and Lucille (Charles) Price of Onaway; and brothers, Albert (Alice) Comfort of Port Huron; Ted and Jack Comfort both of Florida. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy (2005); son-in-law, Dean Freel; infant son, Craig; sister, Donna Wilkinson; and brother, Robert Comfort. |
