Kenneth "Butch" Covell, age 67 of Onaway, formerly of Kalamazoo, died August 28, 2006 at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor. Butch was born in Tower on July 24, 1939 to Ralph and Delema (Preedhomme) Covell. On September 11, 1960 he was married to Roberta Kingsley in Kalamazoo. Butch was born and raised in Onaway before moving to Kalamazoo where he worked as a machinist for the Eaton Corporation for 22 years and also worked for International Paper for 11 years. In 1999 Butch and Roberta moved back to the Onaway area. Mr. Covell was a Navy veteran who served in Cuba during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors and bowling. His true love however, was watching and especially traveling to and from Nascar races. Butch will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Roberta Covell of Onaway; son, Jeff Covell of Kalamazoo; daughters, Doris (Todd) Sanger of Kalamazoo and Rona Covell of Kalamazoo; and 3 grandchildren, Marcus Harding; Makenzie Harding and Phil Kaiser. He will also be missed by his sister, Emma (Jack) Tucker of Tower; and brother, Don (Phyllis) St. Germain of Onaway. Butch was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Roger Covell. |
