Helen D. Getzmeyer, age 88 of Onaway, died March 28, 2006 at the Cheboygan Memorial Hospital. Helen was born in Coleville, Washington on November 7, 1917 to Allan and Grace (Bergan) Dunham. On November 13, 1948 she was married to Archie Getzmeyer. Helen moved with her family to the Onaway area in 1919 from Coleville, Washington. She retired from the Cheboygan Memorial Hospital in 1973 where she worked was a registered nurse and also worked as a supervising nurse. Helen was a member of the Smiling Circle Club and the Onaway VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed going to the Casino for entertainment. Helen will be sadly missed by her daughters, Nancy (Tom) Balch of Brighton; Alice Getzmeyer of Onaway and Mary (Jim) Getzmeyer; sons, Tom (Linda) Getzmeyer of Lansing and Ted (Bev) Getzmeyer of Rogers City; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and brothers, Monroe (Carmel) Dunham of Fowerville and Jim (Dorothy) Stover of Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; sisters, Alice, Elizabeth, Frances, and Hattie; and brothers, Richard, John, and Billy. |
