Obituaries

 Nellie Marion Hall, age 93 of Onaway, formerly of Muskegon, died December 9, 2006 at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Nellie was born in Mason City, Iowa on April 20, 1913 to Joseph and Genevieve "Jenny" (Woolaver) Saylor. She lived and worked in Muskegon as a Department Manager for Sears Department Store until 1979 when she retired and in 1980 moved to Onaway. Nellie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, weaving baskets and writing. She was a very proud grandmother and loved following her great grandchildren's sporting events and school careers and watched for their names in the local paper every week. Nellie also was a genealogist and traveled all over the United States to trace her ancestry. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Joyce (Howard Grainger) Smith of Canada Creek Ranch and Patricia (Gary) Crawford of Rome, New York; granddaughters, Linda (Lenny) Rieger of Onaway; Laurie (George) Collings of O'Fallon, Missouri; Lisa (Robert) Bloom of Liverpool, New York; Kimberly (Yong Jun) Kim of Laurenceville, Georgia; Kathy (Greg) Stack of Massachusetts and Debby (Bill) Toothacre of Massachusetts; and grandson, Larry (Cathy) Douglas of Pennsylvania. She will also be missed by great granddaughters, Tessa Rieger of Onaway, Jenna LaFountain of Mt. Pleasant and Kelly Bloom of Liverpool, New York; great grandsons, Ben Rieger of Mt. Pleasant; Lonnie Splan of Midland and Rob Bloom of Liverpool, New York; and brother Joseph (Jean) Saylor of Grand Blanc. Nellie was preceded in death by her son, Franklin Douglas Jr; son-in-law, Walter "Buzz" Smith; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers.
