Dorothy Juanita Kelner, age 88 of Onaway, died August 31, 2006 at her home. Dorothy was born in Kirksville, Missouri to George and Alta (Newcomer) Stafford. On November 25, 1939 she was married to Anthony "Tony" Kelner in Warren. Dorothy and Tony moved to Onaway in 1950 and purchased the 211 Bar/Grocery. They owned and operated both until the late 1950's when they sold the bar. They continued to run the store until retirement in the early 1970's. Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, knitting, playing cards and scrabble. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her daughters, Karen (Richard) Bickman of Bullhead City, Arizona; Carol Perkins of Saginaw; Nancy Porter of Onaway and Janet Stanaly of Onaway; daughter-in-law, Joyce Kelner of Henderson Nevada; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters, Maxine Lull of South Carolina and Sarah Jane Johnson of Clinton Township; brothers, Douglas (Jo) Stafford of Peck and Don (Betty) Stafford of Yale; and sister-in-laws, Clarice Stafford; Ruth Stafford of Douglasville, Georgia and Frances Kelner of Onaway. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony Kelner; son, Tom Kelner; brothers, Gerald Stafford; Harold Stafford and Leroy "Bud" Stafford; and brother-in-law, George Kelner. |
