Josef "Opa" Marx, age 77 of Tower, formerly of Warren, died September 5, 2006 at his home. Josef was born in Zemun, Yugoslavia on February 9, 1929 to Franz and Elisabeth (Kneisel) Marx. On August 17, 1963 he was married to Berta Held in Detroit. Josef immigrated to the United States in 1957 and resided in Warren where he worked as a tool and die maker for Milling Specialties for 40 years. Mr. Marx and his wife then moved to Tower after his retirement in 1996. Josef loved soccer and was a member of the U.S. National Soccer Championship team in 1962 with the Carpathia Kickers where he played for 26 years. He also enjoyed being outdoors and especially going fishing. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Berta Marx of Tower; sons, Adrian (Colleen) Marx of Sterling Heights and Edward Marx of Gaylord; and grandchildren, Stefanie, Jennifer and Joey. He also will be missed by his sister, Hermina (Florian) Remlinger of Oscoda. Josef was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Heidi, Hanni and Hedi. |
