Robert Charles Strong, age 78 of Indian River, died August 17, 2006 at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Robert was born in Hawarden, Iowa on August 6, 1928 to Charles and Rachel (Kellerman) Strong. On December 31, 1955 he was married to the late Helen Kozicki. Robert is a U.S. Marine Veteran who worked as a general foreman for Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1968. Robert moved to Indian River in 1969 and was a member of the Jack Pine Search and Rescue and the Masonic Lodge, both of Onaway. On September 29, 1996 he married June Gausche in Indian River. Robert was an automobile enthusiast. He also loved deer hunting and snowmobiling. Robert will be sadly missed by his wife, June of Indian River; daughters, Judy (Jim) Mazur of Charlevoix and Cheryl (Craig) Styes of Tower; step-daughter, Pauline Kozicki of Chesterfield; step-sons, Mike Libby and John Libby both of Des Moines, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Abbie Styes; Derek Styes; Meagan Styes and Haley Mazur; and 2 step-grandchildren, Colleen Janich and Helene Bernbe. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen (1993); step-son, Harry Kozicki; and granddaughter, Chelsea Mazur. |
