Obituaries

Robert L. Tomlinson, of Black Lake (Onaway), died March 6, 2006 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. Robert was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 26, 1916 to Lewis and Mabel (Roberts) Tomlinson. On December 31, 1940 he was married to Gwen Edwards at the London Methodist Church in Milan. Bob and Gwen lived on a farm in Milan for many years. In 1967 they moved to Ypsilanti and in 1973 Bob retired from the Ford Motor Company Rawsonville Plant where he worked as an engineer. After his retirement, Bob and Gwen moved to Black Lake, near Onaway, where they spent spring, summer and fall, but wintered in Florida. Bob was a member of the Onaway United Methodist Church, Onaway Masonic Lodge #425 and Black Lake Association. He enjoyed farming, fishing, playing golf and woodworking. Bob will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Gwen of Black Lake; sons, Charles Tomlinson of Mesa, Arizona and John (Katherine) Tomlinson of Maybee; grandsons, Brian Tomlinson of Monroe and Timothy Tomlinson of Maybee; grandaughter, Teri Steele of Britain; and great granddaughter, Kastosia Steele of Britain. He will also be missed by his brother, Dwight Tomlinson of Strongsville, Ohio; and nephews, Dennis Tomlinson of Cleveland, Ohio and Robert Dicaire of Land O'Lakes, Florida. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Louise Dicaire.
