John Milford Bishop, age 85 of Onaway, died April 6, 2007 at his home. John was born in Onaway on December 8, 1921 to Charles and Ethel (Beebe) Bishop. On May 24, 1968 he was married to Linda L. Loshawin Indian River. John was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area and an active member of the Onaway VFW Post 5857. He served in Europe for the US Army during WWII in the 94th Signal Battalion as a truck driver. John worked for the McLaughlin Company as a press operator until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting and selling firewood, farming and taking tractor rides through the woods. John will be sadly missed by his loving wife of nearly 39 years, Linda of Onaway; daughters, Irma (Patrick) Nolin of Fairbanks, Alaska, Sharon (Alan) Thompson of Indian River, Brenda (Charles) Cadwell of Houghton and Joanne (Eric) Young of Cheboygan; 12 grandchildren, Jonathon, Crystal, Misty and Daniel Nolin, Jessica and Melinda Thompson, Joshua and Jared Cadwell, and Amillee, Katie, Madison (Saile) and Jordan Young; and 2 great grandchildren, Nikki and Logan. He will also be missed by his brothers, Willard (Eunice) Bishop of Onaway and Lawrence (Evelyn) Bishop of Onaway; special nephew, Greg (Bonnie) Wang of Onaway; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; brother, Lloyd Bishop; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bishop. |
