James "Jim" Donald Connors, age 89 of Black Lake died March 17, 2007 at Tendercare Heath Center of Rogers City. Jim was born in Mt. Pleasant on June 16, 1917 to James and Ethel (Reigle) Connors. On May 15, 1948 he was married to Evelyn Marie Williams at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Jim worked for Pure Oil Company for 20 before going to work in maintenance at Central Michigan University where he retired from after more than 20 years of service. Jim and Evelyn had been coming to Black Lake for vacation and hunting trips since the 1940's and moved permanently from Mt. Pleasant 27 years ago. Jim served in the Army during WWII - Pacific Theatre and was an active member of the VFW Post 5857. He also belonged to St. Paul's Catholic Church in Onaway and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and ice fishing. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Evelyn of Black Lake; son, James Connors of Mt. Pleasant; grandsons, David (Becky) Connors and Joseph Connors both of Mt. Pleasant; brother Tom (Jean) Connors of Black Lake; and sisters, Mary Bower of Pahrump, Nevada and Dorothy Connors of Mt. Pleasant. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Eugene, Lloyd, Leon and Frank Connors. |
