Howard Charles Dunsmore, age 81 of Tower, died January 27, 2007 at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Howard was born in Onaway on February 14, 1925 to Gilbert and Eva Beulah (Umphrey) Dunsmore. On August 16, 1947 he was married to Delores "Dottie" LaForest in Tower. Howard was born and raised in the Onaway area. He left for 30 years to work at Buick Motors in Flint as an assembly line inspector, but then returned to reside in Tower after his retirement in 1976. Howard was in the U.S. Army and served in Europe during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5857 in Onaway and also belonged to the Onaway United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms and black berries, playing cards and shoveling snow. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Dottie of Tower; daughters, Darleen (Pat) Kennedy of Tower, Debbie (Dave) Coon of Grand Blanc and Denise (Dan) Miller of Rogers City; son, Dale (Debbie) Dunsmore of Burton; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Lila McArthur of Tower; brother, Ron Covell of Tower; close friend, Kenny Douse of Onaway; and many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Dunsmore; mother, Beulah Skinner; brother, James Dunsmore; and brother-in-law, Bob McArthur. |
