Edith Johnston, age 97 of Onaway, died June 14, 2007 at Tendercare Health Center in Cheboygan. Edith was born in Onaway on April 28, 1910 to George and Ellen (Porter) Peterson. On May 27, 1930 she was married to Clayton Johnston in Mackinaw City. She was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area and worked as a librarian at the Onaway Library. Edith was the North Allis Township Clerk for many years and a member of the Waverly Friendship Club. She enjoyed reading, photography and scrapbooking. Edith will be sadly missed by her daughter, Janice (George) Marsh of Onaway; son, Edward "Bud" (Sharon) Johnston of Crystal Falls; son-in-law, Edwin Hyer of Sanford; 9 grandchildren; many great and great, great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Roth of Bay City and Patricia Price of Onaway; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Hyer (1997); grandchildren, Lisa and Jetry Hyer; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters. |
