Lloyd Marsh, age 64 of Onaway, died November 19, 2007 at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Lloyd was born in Ocqueoc on August 24, 1943 to George and Gertrude (Breney) Marsh. Lloyd was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area. He held several jobs throughout his lifetime, including welding on the Alaskan Pipeline and owning/operating "Our Own Sanitation" in Onaway. For most of his life however, Lloyd was a sailor. He began sailing in the Navy, then sailed on the Great Lakes, and retired in 2005 on the Ocean Freighters. Lloyd served the United States Army during Vietnam and then enlisted in the Navy. He was an excellent poet and songwriter and enjoyed reading, especially the Bible. Lloyd also enjoyed the company of friends and had great appreciation for a good racehorse. At one time, Lloyd owned several of his own racehorses which he admired and enjoyed keeping. Lloyd will be sadly missed by his son, Damon (Darlene) Marsh of Onaway; daughters, Jamie Bree Marsh of Indian River and Lara Lee Marsh of Petoskey; brothers, Elmer Marsh of Onaway, Don Marsh of Ocqueoc, and George Marsh of Lansing; sisters, Earline Heard of Nevada, Lorraine Miller and Shirley Haan both of Rogers City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Floyd "Gibby" and Roy Marsh. |
