Lorraine Dorothy Pavlik, age 88 of Onaway, passed away on August 11, 2007 in Vital Care Hospice House in Cheboygan, Michigan, after a long illness. Lorraine was born Lorraine Dorothy Vollstaedt on September 23, 1918 in St. Clair, Michigan and graduated from St. Clair High School. On July 2, 1939 she married Edward Curtis Brougham of Maryville, Michigan. The couple had three children and resided in Marysville. Upon the passing of Edward in 1948, Lorraine married Steven S. Pavlik of Armada, Michigan in 1953. The couple had one child and continued to live in Marysville. Steven Pavlik passed away in 1989, but Lorraine continued to live in Marysville until 2001, when failing eyesight and health forced her to move up north to Onaway, Michigan to be closer to two of her sons. Lorraine continued to live independently at Lynn Street Manor Senior Apartments in Onaway until failing health forced her to move in with one of her sons and ultimately into Hospice House. Lorraine in her later years enjoyed talking on the phone to friends and relatives, relating stories about her youth and most enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorraine loved children and was a remarkable woman who all through her life overcame pain and adversity and still managed to smile. She will always be remembered for her kindness to others, frank opinions, generosity, toughness, love of life, and great sense of humor. Lorraine is survived by sons, Gary (Beverly) Brougham of Onaway and Thomas (Debra) Pavlik of Lansing; daughter-in-law, Cora Brougham of Onaway; step-son, John (Del) Pavlik of Harrison; step-daughters, Chris (Edward) Stasik of Arizona and Virginia (John) Kennedy of Alabama; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Edward Brougham (1948); daughter, Gayle Thibodeau (1960); grandson, Edward Thibodeau (1960); step-son, Stephen "Stan" Pavlik Jr. (1983); husband, Stephen Pavlik (1989); son, Fred Brougham (2004); step-daughter, Marie Carol (2006); and 10 siblings. |
