Sergeant Robbie J. Phillips, age 21 of Fort Gordon, Georgia and Onaway, Michigan, died September 24, 2007 at Fort Gordon. Robbie was born in Fort Myers, Florida on April 11, 1986 to Robert and Debora (Lewis) Phillips. Robbie lived in Onaway with his father from 2000-2005 and was a member of Joy Community Church. He worked at Burger King in Cheboygan before enlisting in the military. For the last 3 years Robbie has served the United States Army. He spent a year of that time serving in Iraq. He recently re-enlisted and was getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan. He moved up the ranks quickly and was soon to be promoted to Staff Sergeant. Robbie planned to make a career of the military. He had a love of animals and animals loved him. He had 2 sugar gliders as pets and they were with him all the time. Robbie also enjoyed computers and rollerblading. He will always be missed by his father, Bob (Debbie) Phillips of Onaway; mother, Debora (Steve) Betrain of Manassas, Virginia; sister, Karen (Joseph) Terry of Centerville, Virginia; niece, Fiona Terry of Centerville, Virginia; brother, Trevor Phillips of New York; grandparents, Dale and Karen Haymann of Blaire, Wisconsin; step-brothers, David (Kim) Main of Ypsilanti and Mark Main of Davison; step-sisters, Monica (Conrad) Linehan of Petoskey and Sarah (Jason) Gruenburg of Davison; and step-nephew, Ethan Gruenburg of Davison. Robbie was preceded in death by his grandparents. |
