Florence B. Stevens, age 72 of Onaway, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at her home. Florence was born in Onaway on August 2, 1935 to Walton and Josephine (Gordier) McClary. On November 30, 1957 she was married to Archie Stevens in Atlanta, Michigan. Florence was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area. She was a homemaker, worked as a seamstress at the garment factory in Onaway, and also worked at Essex Wire in Atlanta. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Onaway. Florence was an excellent cook and enjoyed making big meals for her family. She also liked vegetable and flower gardening, camping, going to bingo, and taking trips to the casino. Florence will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Archie Stevens of Onaway; daughters, Shirley (Scott) Jennings of Grand Blanc and Sally (Dan) Shephard of Onaway; grandchildren, Jessica Dittmar, James & Danielle Shephard, Lori Omstead, Heidi Jackson, and Kiley McDonald; and great grandchildren, Sterling & Kate Omstead, Brittany & Brooke Stevens, Alex Arkwood, Landon Jarvis, and Trapper McDonald. She will also be missed by her brother, Bill McClary of Mason, Ohio; sisters, Charlotte (Bob) Streeter and
Hazel Stevens both of Onaway, Gertrude Stevens of Georgia, and
Mary (Gary) Wirgau of Rogers City; and many nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wilfred McClary; and grandson, Jeff Dittmar. |
