William George "Bill" Wade, age 84 of Onaway, died May 14, 2007 at his home. Bill was born in Davison on May 6, 1923 to William E. and Naioma L. (Springsteen) Wade. Bill was married to Audrey Johnson on July 7, 1977. He was a member of the Eagles in Lapeer and worked on the assembly line for General Motors and also as a brick mason before moving to Onaway where he has spent most of his life. Bill was a veteran of WWII where he served the U.S. Army as a Med Tech/Combat Medic in New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, and the Southern Philippines for which he earned 4 bronze battle stars. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. He also was a great handyman and loved to work with his hands. Bill will be sadly missed by his daughters, Kathy Ireland of Beaverton, Patricia (Mike) Miles of Tucson, Arizona and Julie (Jeff) Letts of Flint; son, William E. Wade of Benson, Arizona; special nephew/best friend, Wesley (Anita) Peters of Onaway; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey (1992); and sisters, Christine and Loretta.
