Shirley Jeanne Waldie, age 71 of Tower, died January 1, 2007 at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Shirley was born in San Mateo, California on July 11, 1935 to Joseph and Margaret (Bickford) LeBlanc. On June 5, 1954 she was married to Billy Waldie Jr. in San Francisco, California. Shirley and Bill moved to Tower from California 51 years ago. For over 33 years Shirley worked as a seamtress at the Sew Bees, Inc. in Onaway and eventually became part owner. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and baking. Shirley will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill of Tower; daughters, Lynne (Mark) Armock of Alanson, Carol (Billy) Brown of Vanderbilt, Darlene (Steve) West of Pellston and Dorothy (Allen) Baker of Holiday, Florida; sons, William (Barb) Waldie of Onaway and Richard "Rick" (Kelly) Waldie of Onaway; 9 grandchildren, Mary (Ken) Wise, Houston, Megan, Ethan, and Kiersten Waldie, Jessica and Jennifer Ford and Sarah and Jessica Baker; and 7 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brothers, Joseph (Barb) and Denny LeBlanc both of California and Ron Johnson of Idaho; and sisters, Charlene May and Carol Dietz both of California. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Bickford) LeBlanc and step-mother, Olga LeBlanc. |
