Michael "Mike" Joseph Cleaver, age 46 of Onaway, died March 30, 2008 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey following a lengthy battle with heart disease. Mike was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey on September 3, 1961 to Harry E. and Joan (Colucci) Cleaver, Sr. He grew up in Washington, New Jersey, spent many years in Arizona, and moved to Onaway in 2000. Mike worked for 20 years driving truck for Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona. In 1998 he had the privilege of chauffeuring President George W. Bush when he visited the base for his famous skydive. Mike was an avid fisherman and loved to coach sports, especially fast pitch softball. He was an All-State Defensive End for 5 Star Kofa High School in Yuma, Arizona. Mike played fast pitch softball for over 25 years, playing on several championship teams. He played Semi-Pro ball in Mexico on the Chigringo's Chagmpionship team where he was an all-star. Mike will be sadly missed by his daughters, Kenya, Rebecca, and Vanessa Cleaver all of Bakersfield, California, and Jordan Cleaver of Yuma, Arizona; son, Michael Cleaver, Jr. of Onaway; grandson, Marky Estrada of Bakersfield, California; mother, Joan Cleaver of Onaway; brothers, Harry (Gail) Cleaver of Easton, Pennsylvania, Johnny (Rosa) Cleaver of Little Rock, Arkansas, Kelly (Linda) Cleaver of Levering, and James (Jodi) Cleaver of Onaway; Companion, Tammy Stiles of Onaway; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Raul Cleaver; brother, Stephen Cleaver; nephew, James Cleaver, Jr.; and father, Harry E. Cleaver, Sr.
