Free! Free, at last! On September 7, 2008, Betty V. Domke joined her parents, Norman and Ruth (Freeland) Aubrey in the arms of the LORD. Mental illness, breast cancer, and diabetes robbed the once beautiful, intelligent, and talented daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother of the joys and rewards of life. Death has given Betty the freedom to shed life’s burdens and illnesses.
Betty was born on September 18, 1930 in Riverton, Michigan in Mason County. The family moved to Onaway in 1931. Betty graduated from Onaway High School with the class of 1948. On June 9, 1949 she married Arthur Domke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocqueoc, Michigan. Thru illness and turmoil, the two remained devoted to and in love with each other.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Art of Ocqueoc; daughter, Arliss (Arvid) Larson of Manistique; son, Michael (Vicki) Domke of Millersburg; grandsons, Jeff (Maura), Jerene, Jerome (Becky), Jhae (Julie) and Jonathan Larson; granddaughters, Jill Larson, Julie (Rick) Mushing, Janel (Fred) Rinehart, Jennifer (Mark) Jacobs, and Erika (John) George; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, George (Faye) Aubrey of Fremont, CA, Norman “Bub” (Mary) Aubrey of Huron Beach, and Raymond (Jane) Aubrey of Alpena; sister, Mary Eldridge of Cheboygan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Clayton “Chum” Eldridge.
