Obituaries

Marian Carol Foeller, age 89 of Black Lake died January 9, 2008 at her home. Marian was born in Detroit on August 18, 1918 to Richard and Viola (Haas) Schmidt. On September 13, 1941 she was married to Charles M. Foeller, Sr. at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Detroit. Marion was a homemaker and a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Alverno. She vacationed for many years at Black Lake before moving there permanently from Wayne in 1969. Marian enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, going to Bingo, crocheting, and watching the cooking channel. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her "26 perfect grandchildren" (as she lovingly called them) and taught them all how to swim in Black Lake and how to play poker. She always said poker was good for their math skills. Marian will be sadly missed by her sons, Charles M. Foeller, Jr. and John J. (Cathie) Foeller both of Black Lake, Andrew A. Foeller of Petoskey, and Michael P. (Judy) Foeller of DeLand, Florida; daughters, Patricia (James) Korpi of Negaunee, Jean A. (Robert) Sharpe of Stowe, Pennsylvania, Jane M. (Charles) Medbery of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Vicky L. (Terry) Fitzpatrick of Cheboygan; 26 "perfect" grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and brother, Elmer "Dutch" (Sarah) Schmidt of Mt. Clemens. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Charles (1970); granddaughter, Soni Rae Foeller; 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.
