Sylvia Marie Hart, age 95 of Onaway died May 24, 2008 at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital. Sylvia was born on September 5, 1912 in Koehler Township/Afton to Edwin and Augusta (Gottleber) Knight. On April 21, 1935 she was married to Ralph "Leslie" Hart at the Knight Family Farm in Afton. Sylvia was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area. She worked as a presser for the Garment Factory in Cheboygan, a cook for the Onaway Schools, a farmer, and for many years she also worked as a waitress. Sylvia attended church at the Northern Michigan Restoration Branch in Atlanta and was a long time member of the Waverly Friendship Club. Her hobbies included picking berries, making jam, flower gardening, playing cribbage and euchre, and going shopping. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and faithfully read scripture every day. Sylvia will be sadly missed by her son, Charles Hart of Onaway; granddaughters, Debbie (Bob) Phillips and Sally (Gerard) Kolasa both of Onaway and Lori Hart of Alanson; grandsons, Charles "Chip" (Rita) Hart of British Columbia and Mike (Eunice) Hart of Onaway; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Les Hart (Dec. 24, 1995); daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hart; 3 brothers; and a sister. |
