J.W. “Bud” Jennings, age 85, of Onaway, died on January 20, 2008 at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
J.W. Jennings was born on July 1, 1922 in Bloomburg, TX to George and Clara (Smith) Gennings. On October 22, 1948 he married Elizabeth Smithy in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Bud worked for Great Lakes Steel as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1984 when he moved to Onaway from Taylor, Michigan. He was a bowler on the Monday afternoon senior bowling league at Sparetime Lanes in Cheboygan. Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood whittling, and bowling. He liked to work in his yard and garden. He liked to sit outside and enjoy the outdoors.
Bud is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Jennings of Onaway; two sons, Donald Jennings of Taylor and George (Lupe) Jennings of Ludington; four daughters, Diane Sumner of Newport, NY, Karen Smith of Cheboygan, Jane (Randy) Mullins and Brenda DeLucia, both of Taylor, MI. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding Bud in death are his daughter, Peggy Mayville; infant son, Richard Owen Jennings; two sons- in-law, Dave Mayville and Tony DeLucia; three sisters, and two brothers.
Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the Chagnon Funeral Home at a later date. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tower, MI.
