Leona C. LaPointe, age 90 of Onaway died January 22, 2008 at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
Leona was born in Imlay City on July 26, 1917 to Leo E. and Martha B. (Lewis) Ankley. On September 3, 1940 she was married to Philip L. LaPointe in Ferndale. Leona was a homemaker and moved to the area from Royal Oak in 1983. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, and reading. She also liked baking, keeping house, and flower gardening. Leona will be sadly missed by her son, David C. LaPointe of Onaway; daughters, Laurel Ann LaPointe of Tower and Debra (Chuck) Chase of Rochester Hills; granddaughter,
Diana (Bob) Baker of Oxford; grandson, David (Shannon) Chase of Lake Orion; great granddaughter, Sarah Grace Baker of Oxford; and sisters, Olive Doehring of Cary, South Carolina and June Luoma of Royal Oak. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip; brother, Woodrow Ankley; and sister, Marjorie Ankley. |
