John E. Moran, age 80 of Onaway, died November 13, 2008 at
Minnie's A.F.C. Home in Onaway.
John was born in Onaway on November 11, 1928 to Harry W., Sr. and
Anna D. (Vlahovich) Moran. He worked as the business manager at
Presque Isle Electric and also was the clerk for the City of Onaway for many years. John was a lifetime member of the Onaway VFW Post 5857 and the Black Lake Sportsman's Club. He was an United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. John enjoyed many hobbies. He liked hunting, fishing, and trips to the cabin in Canada. He was a skilled artist when it came to hand-carving and checkering gun stocks. John also loved to play cards,
especially Spitzer, Poker, or Cribbage. He was an avid gardener and
enjoyed making wine. 
John will be sadly missed by his sisters, Katherine M. (Patrick) Murphy of Wolverine, Harriet Rex of Onaway, and Maryanne (Walter) Szymoniak of Millersburg; brothers, Anthony R. (Sandra) Moran of California and
Harry W., Jr. (Marian) Moran of Onaway; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Antoinette R. Greenlee and Dorothy Wright.
