George W. Peel, age 89 of Millersburg, died October 22, 2008 at his home.
George was born in Birch Run on September 30, 1919 to Albert and Electa L. (Pope) Peel. On September 12, 1965 he was married to Gloria Chesen in Waterford. George was a veteran of the United States Navy. He spent most of his life in the Onaway/Millersburg area working as a truck driver for many years. In 1967, George retired from Motorcar Transport. Many, many years ago, he also worked for the Presque Isle County Road Commission. George found his greatest enjoyment in fishing. He also liked fixing and tinkering with motors, gardening, and raising horses.
George will be sadly missed by his wife of 43 years, Gloria Peel of Millersburg; sons, Elwin (Judy) Peel of Davisburg, Michael (Debra) Peel of Highland, and Jackie (Sue) Peel of Kingman, Arizona; daughters, Doris (David) Gallaty of Lake and Sherry (Al) Bowers of Millersburg; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons, Gary George and Doyle Dwayne Peel; brothers, Elwin, Walt, and Charles Peel; and sisters, Lucy, Emma, Doris, and Norie. |
