Peggy Ann Penfold, age 61 of Onaway, died November 26, 2008 at her home. Peggy was born in Cheboygan on May 18, 1947 to Emerson T., Sr. and Betty Jean (Skuse) Penfold. Peggy was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area. She retired about 11 years ago from the Onaway Area Community Schools were she worked more than 30 years as the head cook. Peggy was an active member of the Onaway Community of Christ Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed working with the children on the Church Christmas Program. Peggy was also a long-time member of the Waverly Friendship Club. She enjoyed crafting, baking, especially Christmas cookies, and taking pictures. Peggy was a collector of cardinals, key chains, and stuffed rabbits. She was a caring person and was very giving to her family and friends. Peggy will be sadly missed by her sister, Jean (Denny) Morris of Copemish; brothers, Emerson, Jr. (Barbara) and David Penfold (Jean Bur) both of Onaway, Wayne (Nancy) Penfold of Cheboygan and Steven (Julie) Penfold of Perry; Many special nieces and nephews that Peggy treated as if they were her own children; uncles, George and Tom (Peggy) Skuse both of Onaway and Sidney (Betty) Skuse of East Jordan; aunts, Willette Sagle of Manitloulin Island, Canada, Frances Miller and Willard Penfold both of Alabama and Amy Clark and Donna Kovach both of the Detroit area; and all her "kids" from her many years of working at the school and being a Sunday School Teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson, Sr. (9/23/2008) and Betty Jean (7/11/2007); nephew, Jacob Penfold; great nephew, Hunter Morris; great niece, Hunter Chapp; aunts, Beatrice, Dorsey, Rosie, Leona, and Lovina; and uncles, Willis, Johnny, and Will. |
