John L. Porter, age 48 of Onaway, died November 25, 2008 at his residence.
John was born in Onaway on December 3, 1959 to Richard Dale and Roxy Ann (Burgess) Porter. On February 25, 1994 he was married to Terrie Richter in Rogers City.
John was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area. He was a member of the Michigan National Guard and served his country and state nobly for 6 years. John was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and hiking. He was a very good father and grandfather.
John will be sadly missed by his wife, Terrie Porter of Onaway; daughter, Candie (Anthony) Lively-Stone of Onaway; sons, Christopher (Tara) Lively of Alanson and Nathan Porter of Onaway; 9 grandchildren; mother, Roxy Aubrey of Onaway; sister, Lisa Dempsey (John Ellenberger) of Onaway; and nephew, Denny Dempsey of Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard. |
