Shirley J. (McNeil) Bowker Pruett, age 86 of Tower, died August 12, 2008 at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Shirley was born in Houghton on January 19, 1922 to Robert and Ida Bel (Barber) McNeil. On April 6, 1962 she was married to Charles A. Pruett in Onaway.
Shirley was raised in the Onaway area, left for several years, and then returned home after living in Drayton Plains. She has been living in the area for the last 42 years. Shirley retired from the UAW Family Education Center where she worked in Food Service. She loved playing cards, Bingo, and the Lottery. Shirley also enjoyed listening to music, singing, attending church services at Tendercare, gardening, and growing cactus plants.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Larry (Judi) Bowker of Highland; daughters, Jeanine (Joe) Bonnard of Onaway and Melody Pruett of Charlevoix; granddaughters, Liesha (Craig) Johnston of Lapeer and Naomi (Robert) Lietzav of Highland; grandsons, Jeremy (Ramona) Bowker of Sacramento, California, Joe (Leanne) Bonnard and Jason Bonnard both of Onaway; and 10 great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Perry Bowker; second husband, Charles Pruett; sisters, Betty Rae Zeeman and Peggy Glynn; brothers, Bud and Mayne McNeil; granddaughter, Doria Bowker; and 2 infant great grandsons. |
