Harry Leo Waldie, age 81 of Onaway, died October 23, 2008 at Tendercare Health Center in Cheboygan.
Harry was born in Otsego Lake Township on May 10, 1927 to William Thomas and Susie May (Fler) Waldie. On March 31, 1950 he was married to Marion LaForrest at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Onaway. Harry was a lifelong resident of the Onaway area. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a foreman for Onaway Forest Products until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed cutting firewood, doing maintenance work for Forest Township, playing with his dogs, and shopping for trucks. Harry was an excellant grandpa. He loved being with his grandchildren, taking them out to eat, and spending time with them whenever he had the chance.
Harry will be sadly missed by his daughters, Barbara Sova of Cheboygan and Jeannie (Jack) Brewbaker of Onaway; sons, Harry Lee (Rocio) Waldie of Orlando, Florida and Robert (Carla) Waldie of Tower; 9 grandchildren; brothers, Bill Waldie of Tower and Stanley "Stick" Waldie of Cheboygan; and sister, Betty Deppemhorse of Detroit.
Harry was preceded in death by granddaughter, Sarah Waldie; a sister; and five brothers. |
