Ruth H. Ellenberger, age 75, a lifelong resident of Onaway, died on Saturday November 21, 2009 at Lois's Adult Foster Care Home in Onaway.
Ruth was born on September 19, 1934 in North Allis Township (Onaway) to Herbert and Pearl (Whittaker) Stock. On January 31, 1953, at the family farm in North Allis Township, she married John "Jack" Ellenberger. They were married for 56 years at the time of Jack's death in February of 2009.
Ruth worked as a cook for many years. She cooked for the Onaway Schools, Canada Creek Ranch, and at the Charcoal Room Restaurant. Ruth was a homemaker, which she did very well. She was a good cook and gardener. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and making dolls. Ruth also enjoyed watching the birds.
Surviving Ruth are her daughter, Bonnie (Bob) Mason of Onaway; two sons, John (Lisa Dempsey) and Doug Ellenberger, both of Onaway; eleven grandchildren; and very close friend who was like a daughter, Brenda (Rod) Rauh of Onaway. Also surviving are Ruth's three sisters, Mary Etta Whaley of Rogers City, Lois (Bruce) Price and Minnie (Jim Wilkinson), both of Onaway; and two brothers, Herbert Stock Jr. of Millersburg and Sam Stock of New Mexico.
Preceding Ruth in death are her husband, Jack, on February 3, 2009; an infant son; brother, Bill Stock; and sisters, Louise McGrath and Betty Stock. |
