Wilfred J. Alexander, age 71 of Onaway, formerly of Gaylord, died February 14, 2009 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey.
Wilfred was born in Mancelona Township, Antrim County on March 30, 1937 to Arthur and Mary Ida (Sheldon) Alexander. On December 8, 1972 he was married to Berneda Watkins.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on January 9, 1967. Wilfred operated a sawmill. He moved to Onaway in September of 2008 after living in Gaylord for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Indian River and Gaylord Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Wilfred was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making wood crafts and baskets. He also
enjoyed cooking.
Wilfred will be sadly missed by his daughters, Rebekah and Edna Alexander both of Afton and Dorothy Stone; granddaughter, Kristina Stone; mother, Mary Alexander of Mancelona; and sister, Mary (Cliff) Scholl of Mancelona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Berneda (October, 2007). |
