Alice Aletha (Peterman) Cope, age 76 of Onaway, died June 19, 2009 at her home. Alice was born in Onaway on May 14, 1932 to Arthur and Lydia B. (Wellesley) Peterman. On December 22, 1952 she married Jetre "Jet" Cope at the United Methodist Church in Onaway. Following their marriage, Jet and Alice moved to Southwest Harbor, ME where they lived in three lighthouses while Jet served in the United States Coast Guard. At the end of a four year tour of duty, they moved back to Onaway where they have lived since 1956. Alice was a homemaker. She enjoyed Bible study groups, playing the piano, camping, decorating her home, and being with her family. Alice will be sadly missed by her husband of 56 years, Jet Cope of Onaway; sons, Rocky Cope of Onaway and Jesse Cope of Muskegon; daughter, Desarae Garn of Alanson; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; daughter by choice, Liz Heeke (Stanton) of Lansing; exchange students, Toni Prado of Brazil and Jan Scharloo of the Netherlands; and granddaughter by choice, Sidney Cottle of Clayton, GA. |
