Alma Marie Dean, age 78, of Onaway was called home by our Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2009 during a very brief time at Tendercare of Rogers City. She was born Alma Lovelien on October 27, 1930 in Whitehall, Wisconsin. She married Ralph Emery Dean on December 3, 1951 in Underwood, North Dakota; they moved to Onaway in 1960 to raise their 3 boys.
Alma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her legacy to all is her unwavering love for her savior during her long struggle with lymphoma, as well as, her high-principles, loyalty, integrity and generosity. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Onaway, as well as the Allis Smiling Circle Club.
Over the years she enjoyed a house always full of many, many of her sons’ friends. She loved when her house was overflowing with all the grand and great-grandkids during the holidays. She enjoyed planting a vegetable garden, doing handcrafts and was a talented seamstress.
Alma is survived by twin sons Marvin (Roxann) Dean and Mark (Leora) Dean, both of Onaway; grandchildren Bill, Caleb & Luke Dean of Onaway; Sarah Dean of Cheboygan; Mark Getzmeyer of Rogers City; Ron Nelund and Rob Nelund of Onaway, Elizabeth Lusk of Florida, and Rachelle LaHaie of Alanson, plus 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Deloris (Ervin) Fiedler and sister-in-law Roxanne Lovelien of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; brother Orlyn (Marge) Lovelien of Minot, North Dakota; and brothers-in-law Bob (Bev) and Ron (Anna) Dean of Nevada.
Awaiting Alma’s arrival at heaven’s gate were husband, Ralph; son, Bill; daughter-in-law, Cheryl; and several brothers who preceded her.
Shared from Hospice friends: Just at the moment we heard “She is gone”, there were other eyes watching her coming and their voices took up the glad shout “Here she comes!” She is gone ONLY from our sight.
