Phillip C. Diamond, age 74 of Onaway, died March 17, 2009 at his home.
Phil was born in Flint on March 16, 1935 to Clayton Lee and Mary (Riley) Diamond. On December 17, 1960 he was married to Sonja P. Homenuk at the Immanual Baptist Church in Flint. Phil was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He retired in March of 1978 from General Motors Chevroolet Manufacturing in Flint where he worked as a fork lift operator. Phil also worked at least 10 years as a police officer in Flint. About 8 years ago, after 25 years or more of vacationing in Onaway, Phil and Sonja moved permanently to Bearinger Township from Flint.
Phil was an outdoorsman and a scout leader for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Sonja P. Diamond of Onaway; sons, Wally (April) Diamond of Flint and Clayton "Lee" (Sherry) Diamond of Onaway; granddaughter, Ollie (Eric) Farrington of Lansing; grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy Werkheiser of Flint; great grandchildren, Jordan and Emily Farrington of Lansing; sister, Kathleen (Bill) Hall of Flushing; nephew, Michael (Tracy) Sargent; twin great niece and nephew, Nikole and Noah Sargent; and great niece Jordan Riley Sargent.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents.
