Fred Elowsky, 67, died on September 27, 2009 at his home in Onaway. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and sports enthusiast. Since retirement, Fred had also become fond of hanging out with his cronies. Fred loved his Michigan State Spartans (GO GREEN), found great joy in being on the golf course and loved his family. Fred is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gayle, his daughter Jackie Brasseur, son-in-law Jim, grandchildren: James, Justine, Jonathan and Jodie Brasseur and daughter Jennifer. Fred was the fifth of nine children and was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lorene Elowsky, sister Kaye Elowsky and half-brother Don Hawks. He is survived by his sister Jill Porter (Delmer), brother Myles (Glee), sister Irene, sister Lois Crittendon (Bob), brother Paul (Ruth), brother Albert, and sister-in-law Catherine Hawks, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Fred was many things to many people and much more than a husband, father and grand-father. A lifelong friend and partner in crime, Floyd Booth (Kathy), meant the world to Fred. He shared his love with many he considered family and opened his home to Kaarina Veihl (Greg), his other grandkids Ashton and Lain Veihl, Michael Badder (Sara), as well as many others he would want to mention but who we hope know were loved and appreciated by Fred.
Another undeniable love for Fred was Onaway athletics. Whether playing, coaching, umpiring, keeping the books or running the chains, Fred was always on hand to give pointers, his two cents, or a wise remark.
Although he will be greatly missed, the fun, laughs, good natured banter, and friendships we shared with Fred will forever be in our hearts. And please remember to support those SPARTANS on Saturday!!! |
