Loretta Gum, age 69 of Blake Lake (Onaway), died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her home on Black Lake.
Loretta was born in Port Austin on March 24, 1940 to Alex and Katherine (Kula) Strozeski. On November 10, 1998 she was married to Cecil Gum
in Rogers City.
Loretta moved to Black Lake from Lake Orion in 1998. She worked as a childcare provider at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. She retired in September of 1996. Loretta enjoyed doing ceramics, cooking, reading, and going for her daily wlk with Cecil. She loved spending summers at Black Lake and wintering in Florida. Loretta and Cecil enjoyed traveling all through the Western States, Canada, and Alaska with their travel trailer. She also loved taking pictures and making photo albums.
Loretta will be sadly missed by her husband Cecil of Black Lake (Onaway); daughters, Kathryn (Michael) Gum of Mt. Pleasant, TN and Lucretia (Dan) Mittelbrun of Farmington Hills; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Pat) Strozeski and Leonard (Loretta) Gum both of Caro; sister, Diane Alexander of Caro; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clarence and
Ernest Strozeski.
