Robert L. "Dick" Havel, age 74 of Onaway, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Dick was born on April 2, 1935 in Shelby Township to Donald R. and Violet C. (McDonald) Havel. He married Xenia V. Crowe on March 20, 1964 in Utica. Dick lived most of his life in the Onaway area. He worked as a tool and die maker. He retired 12 years ago and returned to Onaway after living in Fairhaven, Michigan.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He liked tinkering and building things. He also enjoyed shooting pol and was a member of the Northland Senior Pool League.
Dick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Xenia; sons Joe of Tower and Richard "Rick" (Diane) of Warren; daughter, Sue of Petoskey; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Leroy) Schaedig of Alpena; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Don and Bill. |
