Doanld L. Klem, age 85 of Canada Creek Ranch (Atlanta), formerly of Grosse Pointe Woods, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at his brother's home at Canada Creek Ranch.
Donald was born in Detroit on September 2, 1924 to Roman A. and Ann J. (Michie) Klem.
He worked for Ford Motor Company in heating and refrigeration until his retirement in 1985. After retirement, Donald moved permantently from Grosse Pointe Woods to Canada Creek Ranch where he had vacationed since he was a small boy. Donald was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army during the occupation of Japan. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. Donald was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Onaway, Life member of the Onaway VFW Post 5857 and the Canada Creek Ranch Golf League. He enjoyed golfing, watching Detroit Tigers Baseball games, talking and telling stories. He was an avid reader and also liked
watching old movies.
Donald will be sadly missed by his sisters, Barbara (William) Estes of Canada Creek Ranch, Mary Jane (Jack) Rohlman of Homosassa, Florida, and Eleanor (Christopher) Bresile of Sebring, Florida; brother, James (Josephine) Klem of Canada Creek Ranch; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert (Violet) Klem; sisters, Margaret (Jack) Beecherl, and Kathleen (Tom) Beebe.
