Raymond "Ray" Murphy of Cheboygan passed away at his home on Wednesday December 2, 2009. Ray was born to Walter and Hazel Stoner Murphy in Toledo, Ohio on May 18, 1930. On October 6, 1979 Raymond and Beverly Harris Dunning were married in Gladwin, Michigan. They then settled in Atlanta for 10 years before moving to Cheboygan nearly 2 years ago. Ray worked as a commercial carpenter for most of his life, but he also worked as a millwright and retired in 1992. Raymond was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Atlanta. He found enjoyment in doing mathematics, researching things such as the history of Cheboygan, studying his bible and reading. Surviving Raymond in death is his loving wife Beverly of Cheboygan, 2 sons Michael S. and Suzanne Murphy of Palmetto, FL and Brian and Cathy Murphy of Sylvania, Ohio. Also surviving are step-sons Dr. Dennis and Susan Dunning of Hudsonville, James and Denise Dunning of Cheboygan; 3 step-daughters; Dianne and Skip Fryczynski of Gladstone, Shelly and Dean Isble of Sough Carolina and Tammy and Ronald Cox of Burt, Michigan. He is also survived by 27 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and a brother Ronald and Dee Murphy of Toledo, Ohio. Ray is preceded in death by step-daughter Vicki Lynn Thayer in 1997. |
