Georgia Helen Peterman nee Hall, age 87 of Onaway, died April 29, 2009 at Lois's Adult Care Home in Onaway. Georgia was born on July 23, 1921 to Ernest Alexander and Martha Alice (Badgrow) Hall at their homestead on what is now Canada Creek Ranch. She graduated from high school in Boyne City. Georgia "Jo" had a career with the Farmers Home Administration for over 30 years, retiring to Onaway in the early 1980's where she met and fell in love with Lyle R. Peterman. They were married in Atlanta at the Big Rock Congregational Church on November 3, 1984 and resided in a home that they built in Onaway. Georgia was a member of the Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta and also attended at the Onaway United Methodist Church. She was involved with the Onaway Courthouse Restoration Project and was active in the planning of Lynn Street Manor. Jo's greatest hobby was music. She and Lyle played music with the Peterman family and also with the Fiddler's Jamboree. Georgia would sing, play guitar, and spoons. They traveled all over Northern Michigan and into Canada, singing, playing, and entertaining at festivals and fairs. Georgia and Lyle hosted the Fiddler's Jamboree in Onaway. Jo will be sadly missed by her husband, Lyle Peterman of Cheboygan; brother, Frank (Millie) Hall of Kaleva; sister, Francena (Fred) Acken of Flint; step-sons, David (Sandy) Peterman of Cheboygan, Robert (Tina) Peterman of Marquette, Richard (Marilyn) Peterman of Charlevoix, Gerald (Linda) Keating of Onaway, and Lloyd Keating of New Mexico; step-daughter, Sue Ann (Bill) Turley of Springfield, IL; brothers-in-law, Cecil Peterman and Clifton (Pauline) Peterman both of Onaway; sisters-in-law, Alice (Jetre) Cope of Onaway and Eliza Jane Peterman of Gaylord; many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest Arthur, Douglas Jefferies, Toby Morrison, and Robert Nelson Hall; sisters, Thelma Grace Long, Amber Jean Nye, and Dessa Maxine Downing. |
