Robert "Bob" Ransom, Sr., age 79 of Tower, died August 9, 2009 at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born in Traverse City on March 19, 1930 to Robert J. and Mary "Elsie" (Pelky) Ransom. On October 18, 1952 he was married to Marilyn Green in Angola, Indiana.
Bob lived in Port Huron for 20 years, but has lived most of his life in the Tower/Onaway area. He retired in 1973 from the State Highway Department where he worked as an inspector. Bob was a member of the Indian River Eagles and was an Eagle Scout. He enoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting knives. He also was an avid reader and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Ransom of Tower; daughter, Lori (Bud) Tucker of Onaway; sons, Robert C. Jr. (Sandra) and Fredric (Lou) Ransom both of Las Vegas, Nevada, Russell (Lori) Ransom of Gwinn, and Paul (Esther) Ransom of North Pole, Alaska; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. |
