Hazel B. Roadhouse, age 95 of Petoskey, formerly of Millersburg, died April 30, 2009 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. Hazel was born in Millersburg on July 27, 1913 to Everett and Caroline (Crowell) Bradley. On August 18, 1940 she was married to Clifford V. Roadhouse in Petoskey. Hazel graduated from Cheboygan High School and then went to Cheboygan County Normal to become a teacher. She taught in many of the country schools in Northern Michigan, including, Riggsville, Parris, Riggsville North, Mullett Lake, Millersburg, Moltke, and Onaway Elementary Schools. She lived her entire life in Northern Michigan. She lived in Cheboygan and Petoskey, but most of her life was spent in Millersburg. Hazel attended church at the Millersburg United Methodist Church and served on the Millersburg Village Council as Treasurer for many years. She also wrote the Millersburg Village News article for the Onaway Outlook. Hazel's hobbies included flower gardening and traveling. She was a talented pianist and enjoyed music. Hazel was a good cook, homemaker, and devoted wife and mother. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughters, Carrie Hanson-Broman and Lisa Hanson both of Petoskey; son-in-law, Larry Hanson of Petoskey; and great grandsons, Tyler and Cody Broman of Petoskey. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford (July 1999); and daughter, Linda Hanson (December 2008). |
