Jennie S. Sandison, age 96 of West Bloomfield, formerly of Tower, died July 15, 2009 at Botz Health Care on Green Lake in West Bloomfield. Jennie was born in Topinabee on September 17, 1912 to Harry and Margaret Ann (Buff) Reynolds. On December 13, 1936 she was married to Darwin R. Sandison in Cheboygan. Jennie was born and raised in Topinabee. After she and Dar were married, they moved downstate to find work. The couple settled in Dearborn Heights where they lived until 1978 when they retired and returned to the North to live in Waverly Township (Tower) on the Sandison family farm. In 1997, after the death of her husband, Jennie went to live with her son in West Bloomfield. Jennie worked as a registered nurse in the newborn nursery and neonatal intensive care unit at Sinai Hospital in Detroit. She was the last living graduate of the Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1933. Jennie was a member of the Orchard Lake Community Church Presbyterian and enjoyed listening to country music and books on tape. She liked working with Dar in the yard and the garden. Jennie will be sadly missed by her son, Harry R. "Dick" (Veronica) Sandison of West Bloomfield and grandson, Ronald Michael Hammer of Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Darwin Sandison (February 18, 1997); daughters, Carol Ann (April 10, 1940) and Joann (May 15, 1947); sister, Margaret Corneil; and brothers, John, Les, and Vern. |
