Blanche R. (Merritt) Shaloy, age 88 of Onaway, died January 27, 2009 at Bortz Health Care in Petoskey.
Blanche was born in Onaway on December 13, 1920 to John and Maggie (Haynes) Merritt. On December 30, 1940 she was married to Carl E.
Shaloy, Sr. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Onaway.
In 1987, Blanche retired from teaching at St. Ignatius Catholic School in Rogers City. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and was a past president of the Altar Society. Blanche also was a 4-H Conservation Teacher and Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed decorating and doing embroidery. Blanche also enjoyed spending time at the Onaway Senior Citizen Center and going to dinner there.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Carl E. (Judy), John (Karen), and Andy Shaloy all of Onaway; daughters, Mary Shaloy Dehring of Rogers City and Claudia (Angelo) Santini of Petoskey; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Arlene Thomas of Alpena.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Shaloy, Sr.; son, John Merritt Shaloy; sisters, Betty Khuel and Opal Woods; and brothers, Art, Mike and John Merritt. |
