Edward F. Stankewitz, age 83 of Black Lake, formerly of Royal Oak, died February 6, 2009 at his home. Ed was born in Warren on October 3, 1925 to Joseph and Gertrude (Heinemann) Stankewitz. On September 1, 1951 he was married to Rosemary Blom at the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Highland Park. Ed retired in 1980 from J & L Steel of Warren where he worked as a crane operator. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked playing euchre and pinochle. Ed will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Rosemary of Black Lake; sons, David (Katherine) Stankewitz of Seattle, Washington, Paul (Diane) Stankewitz of Alma, and John Stankewitz of Cheboygan; daughters, Karen (Gary) Cox of Clawson and Joanne (Alan) Mantel of Ocqueoc; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and a sister. |
